The double J catheter consists of two J-shaped ends, which are placed in the kidney and bladder, and a tube-shaped segment that passes through the ureter.
The double J catheter is used in a variety of medical situations, such as after urological surgery to maintain patency of the ureter and allow urine to flow freely, or to treat stricture or narrowing of the ureter. It can also be used in the removal of kidney stones, relieving the obstruction temporarily and allowing the stone to be removed by natural means or by other procedures. ✅
